Its capital, Colonia del Sacramento, is the country's second oldest city which has preserved its Spanish influence within its architecture and geography. Food

Food

Uruguayans eat a lot of meat. Main dishes include the asado, the parrillada (beef platter), chivito (steak sandwich), milanesa, tortellini and other common pasta. The dish I purchased, consisted of steaks, topped with ham and melted cheese, with two fried eyes, accompanied with rice, peas and salad with tomatoes. Great food and very, very affordable. A double steak meal can go for as little as $12 American dollars. Uruguay is a must if you enjoy your food!
